What You Will Do
As a Site Reliability Engineer at Amgen, you’ll bring engineering excellence to platform reliability. Here’s what your role will involve:
Infrastructure & Platform Support
- Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Support container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker) for availability and resource optimization.
- Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines and development environments.
Monitoring & Incident Response
- Set up and maintain observability platforms to monitor health and performance.
- Participate in alert tuning, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
- Integrate monitoring systems into incident workflows to shorten response times.
Automation & Operations
- Automate platform tasks like provisioning, patching, and compliance enforcement.
- Write Python, Bash, or Go scripts to reduce manual work and improve efficiency.
- Participate in platform upgrades, service validation, and maintenance activities.
AI Enablement & Intelligence
- Support the adoption of AI-assisted tools for anomaly detection and predictive alerts.
- Collaborate on integrating AI/ML-based observability into dashboards and workflows.
- Stay ahead of trends in AI for infrastructure reliability.
Collaboration & Agile Delivery
- Partner with development, QA, and security teams to ensure reliable and secure deployments.
- Document playbooks, runbooks, and procedures for operational excellence.
- Engage in Agile and SAFe processes, embedding reliability and security into delivery cycles.
What We Expect of You
Basic Qualifications
- Master’s degree, OR Bachelor’s degree with 5–9 years in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering.
- Cloud experience (preferably AWS) with compute, networking, IAM, and storage services.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD practices and pipeline automation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills on Linux systems.
Preferred Skills (Must-Have)
- Expertise with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Working knowledge of Linux administration.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, or Go).
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Dynatrace, Grafana).
- Hands-on with incident management workflows.
- Strong version control skills with Git.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of configuration management (e.g., Ansible) and secrets management.
- Exposure to AIOps tools for anomaly detection and predictive monitoring.
- Understanding of ITIL-based incident workflows.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Cloud DevOps certification (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Security Specialist (CKS).
- CI/CD platform certifications.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent.
